Our mission is to empower disabled people and those with long-term health conditions to overcome barriers and build thriving, sustainable businesses – with wellbeing, flexibility, and inclusion at the centre.

We believe that self-employment should be an option for everyone. But we know the system isn’t always set up that way. That’s why we provide practical, person-centred support to help you navigate business ownership in a way that works for you.

Who We Are

Business Beyond Barriers is a project from Accounting for Good CIC – a values-led, purpose-driven social enterprise based in the North East. We combine professional expertise with lived experience of disability to create coaching, workshops, peer support, and resources that are accessible, inclusive, and real-world practical.

We understand that running a business while managing your health isn’t easy. But with the right support, it can be possible — and powerful.

Who We Work With

We support disabled entrepreneurs, freelancers, and founders with long-term physical or mental health conditions across the UK — whether you're:

  • Exploring a business idea

  • Starting out with self-employment

  • Rebuilding after a setback

  • Ready to grow, but unsure how

If you’ve felt excluded by traditional business support, this space is for you.

What We Offer

Everything we do is built around inclusion, wellbeing, and empowerment:

  • Coaching that’s flexible, compassionate, and shaped around your goals

  • Workshops covering business skills and personal resilience

  • Peer support and community where you can be yourself

  • Co-working and connection spaces in Blaydon and online

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions — we co-create support that works with your life, not against it.

What Makes Us Different

  • We are led by lived experience, not just theory

  • We focus on sustainable self-employment, not hustle culture

  • We create spaces where wellbeing and business go hand in hand

  • We measure impact through real progress and people’s stories, not just numbers

Our approach is rooted in respect, flexibility, and hope — because disabled entrepreneurs have so much to offer, and too often face barriers that shouldn’t exist.
